WW  x  SUMMERLAND, BRITISH, COLUMBIA

Nestled in between Kelowna and Penticton, Summerland is our favourite small town in the Okanagan. Filled with cherry and apple orchards, vineyards, wineries, and beautiful scenery, Summerland is at the top of our list for a relaxing weekend trip in BC.

First on the agenda is always a quick wine tour. Our top picks for Summerland wineries are Lunessence, Evolve, Dirty Laundry, and of course – Sage Hills (their Pinot Noir sells out every year, so get here early in the season!). Each of these wineries has a gorgeous view of the lake or mountains, a friendly staff to offer suggestions and tastings, and a few great bottles we always grab before heading back to the lower mainland.

If you’re not into wine, they have a few great stops for cider including Summerland Heritage Cider Company, Dominion Cider Co., and NOMAD Cider. Each of these stops has a wide selection of ciders, but our personal favourite is from Summerland Heritage – their margarita influenced cider called “Margarita Gose”.

Apart from their food and drink options, Summerland has some beautiful walks and hikes through the vineyards, as well as on Giant’s Head mountain. If you’re looking for water sports, you can rent paddle boards, jet skies, or a boat from Summerland Waterfront Resort on Lakeshore Drive.

Lastly, we always make sure to include a few long neighbourhood walks to check out any new homes being built and admire our old favourites. Summerland is quickly becoming a new hot spot for young families, and retired couples alike. It is close to Kelowna for big city convenience yet it’s still far enough to have that small town community and lower purchase price on homes. We are seeing more and more builders coming out to Summerland to construct dream homes for their clients and new developments for future buyers.

Any questions about Summerland or the Okanagan, let us know! We go at least once a year and have a lot of tips and must see stops for those heading there for the first time.
